Missing Teeth

Not replacing missing teeth can result in unsightly gaps and can make chewing and speaking more difficult.

Adjacent or opposing teeth may drift into the space, causing bite and decay problems.

There are several options available for replacing missing teeth.

• Partial or complete dentures: Dentures are removable false teeth. Partial dentures replace only a few missing teeth. Complete dentures replace an entire arch.
• Dental bridge: A bridge uses natural teeth on either side of the gap to support a false tooth or teeth. The neighbouring teeth must be contoured so a crown can be placed over the top. A bridge is an ideal solution if the neighbouring teeth already require crowns.
• Dental implant: A dental implant consists of two major components, a small titanium screw which mimics your tooth’s root and a crown which is the visible part of the tooth. Implants look, feel, and function just like natural teeth and do not affect adjacent teeth.
