An endodontist has advanced knowledge of this area of dental work and is well equipped to deal with the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of the fleshy pulp area surrounding the root of a tooth.
Sometimes infections can occur in the nerves or other material of the pulp cavity due to physical injury or decay. When this happens, an endodontist removes the diseased pulp to save the tooth and prevent further infection and inflammation.
Our in-house Endodontist provides endodontic treatments to remove decay and infection from the nerves and roots of your teeth so you can enjoy a healthy and fully functional smile. Other endodontic treatments include root canal retreatment, apicoectomy, pulpotomy and pulpal debridement.
Often, the only alternative to surgery is extraction of the tooth. The extracted tooth must then be replaced with a bridge, implant or removable denture to restore chewing function and to prevent adjacent teeth from shifting.
