Dental bridges are used to bridge the gap caused by a missing tooth or multiple teeth. A fixed dental bridge consists of a prosthetic tooth and two crowns which are placed on the teeth adjacent to the gap.
The crowns are anchors that secure the false tooth in place. A dental bridge improves your ability to chew and speak and prevents the rest of the teeth from moving out of position and into the gap.
When placing a dental bridge, the adjacent teeth must be contoured to accommodate the crowns. By securing the prosthetic tooth to healthy teeth, the dental bridge becomes a long-lasting and durable missing teeth solution.
Dental bridges are permanent and cannot be removed unless by your dentist and with good oral hygiene, and regular dental check-ups, they can last up to a decade.
Implant-supported bridges are secured by implants.
Your dentist or hygienist can demonstrate how to care for your bridge.
